Nikstryker Posted March 23, 2018 Share Posted March 23, 2018 Personally I have found Varta to be really good and last much longer than the standard 4 years most manufacturers give warranty on. Finally tested the crank draw on my Fiesta MK7 and the battery is failing so need a replacement! Eurocarparts is my usual source but open to advice! Ahh i see start stop is where the engine cuts at lights to save fuel - i dont think my Fiesta 2014 Duratec 1.25 has it its only the ECO-Fords like Ecoboost etc that have it no? Ford batteries need to be silver calcium for the Smart Charge that has been on all of them for about 20 years. If you have stop-start, you need an EFB (enhanced flooded) battery because of that. EcoBoost is a family of turbo petrol engines. Well thats me learned something new today - Its been a good day! You mean a button on the dashboard marked start/stop big round button - I have seen it in pictures but no its not on my car? I'm afraid I am a 1600xflow Ford Escort MKII kinda guy - cant be bothered with all these new fangled electronic doo daas just makes home mechanics even more of a nightmare and leads to premature failure - I just repaired an LG plasma telly and a Samsung LCD - 4 years is the average lifetime for new tv's i see in my workshop! I have a Marconiphone CRT tv in my workshop its 40 years old and never needed a repair. Built in obsolescence its true I see it every day in every piece of electronics from washing machines to pvrs and the simplest little part the capacitor which hasnt moved on for years is usually the most common component to fail. Consumers have no idea!!! You wouldnt believe I am 30 years in Electronics design and repair and have my degree in computer software and hardware design but I am scared to use the automated tills at Asda, One arm bandits and even those new fangled computerised fuel pumps - they just dont like me - every time i used em my money disappears, the system would crash or some other disaster - I prefer the manual method nice and easy lol Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
TomsFocus Posted March 25, 2018 Share Posted March 25, 2018 The button just has an A in a circle rather than saying start stop, it's towards the bottom of the dash under the heater controls. The button with stop and start written on it is usually keyless ignition instead. Either way I'm sure you'd have noticed it by now lol. I have the utmost respect for anyone who has to work on a till - quite a stressful job dealing with the public. I worked for the DHSS for a year and it was the last time I ever work directly with the public - death threats even had one guy attack my colleague with an axe and another guy told us he was gonna get us and waited outside the Pollokshaws office with his Rottweiller - Glasgow is no mean city for sure!
