To copper grease or not that is the question

2013 Titanium 1l Fiesta, Gonna fit Brembo pads and discs complete with new fitting kit. I've read through many forums and can not get a definite conclusion it's 50/50.

Do I need to add copper grease to the ends of the pads and to the wheel hub or is it not necessary anymore with modern brakes.

I take it that with the Brembo pads having shims that it's also not necessary to add copper grease to that side of the pads is that correct?

The reason to use copper grease on anything exposed to high temperatures is that the copper enables it to transmit the heat quickly away and to stop things seizing!.

Its from the old days but I believe some garages still use it.

Modern pads have a back coating meaning you dont need it - I have heard adding it can actually melt that special coating

Official Ford practice is to not use it, I believe.

But I still use it at the ends of the pads, where they slide on the caliper bracket. Providing you only use a small amount, and avoid getting any on the pad or disk, it can help there. It can reduce squeals, and may prolong the life of the rather expensive caliper bracket.

I moved onto Cera-Tec a few years ago.  But have now stopped using anything.  I've noticed modern cars don't have any grease from the factory when changing brakes for the first time, and with the shims and anti rattle clips there shouldn't be any noise anyway, so the grease then just acts like a dirt and grit trap, likely to be more of a hindrance than a help.  It's down to personal preference at the moment though.
