Fiesta 2013 keys not recognised problem

Hi we have a '13 plate Fiesta ecoboost.

 

Both keys are not being recognised by the ignition security. it takes ages, upto 10 minutes sometimes to start the engine

Our Newcastle Ford main dealer has had it three times and they've tried reprogramming the keys, changed the batteries a few times and are stumped by a no problems on the diagnostics. the Workshop manager admitted he'd only seen this on commercial fords, transit etc 

Help ! is there a failing part on steering column switch?
