Purpose of this lumb

When changing to summer tyres i notice these aluminium lumbs on shock absorbers, can anybody explain what is purpose of those. The part catalog says vibration, but seems strange to add unsprung mass by alu lumb. Of course the effect is minimal on car like this.

It’s to reduce NVH (noise, vibration, harshness). Basically a lump within a lump that can move to reduce the transmitted vibration. Not required if you’re tuning your suspension for performance.
