Hi, can anyone tell if there is a fasia that will enable the newer curved DVD SatNav unit to be fitted to a early 2007 S-Max model which has the square type radio cd unit fitted (as pictured). My car also has the factory fitted DVD enertainment system below the seat and in headrests. I can get the older black square type DVD sat nav unit which will fit in with no problems (as per supplier) and only in BLACK, not silver. Also does anyone know if the newer curved 2008 onwards version (pictured) will slot in, and if the wiring connections are the same and compatible with the fitted entertainment system? Has anyone upgraded their S-Max like this?

A new fascia can be bought from your local dealer (beware ICE specialists charging double the dealer prices) and yes the new oval style headunits have the same wiring.

I have a mate selling a Sat Nav unit from a Ford Focus 2007 would this fit a 2007 S-Max?

My S-Max is a 2007 with the square radio 6006 so I assume I would need to but the new oval facia?

Thanks

Yes you just need the oval fascia plate - quite inexpensive from Ford. The focus system should plug & play, just make sure you get the GPS antenna and the keycode.

I upgraded the square Visteon 6006CDC in mine for the oval Blaupunkt TravelPilot FX (which I'm guessing is what your mate has in his focus?)

The oval shaped unit in your picture is not a Ford unit. Its a Chinese import and runs off Windows CE software. The Satnav software runs of the mini SD Card but as its windows based you can use Tom Tom or iGO8.

As I decided to order a new Focus Sport today which comes with the Communications Pack including the Blaupunkt Travelpilot FX system I am selling the one from my current Focus on eBay if your interested. I took the photos this afternoon and removed the unit including the TV aerial and Reversing Camera.

Hello.

I'm also thinking in upgrading from the square 6006 to the oval Blaupunkt TravelPilot FX. You didn't need any aditional adapters? Where have you placed the GPS antenna?

Thanks. :)

The only thing you need is the newer fascia trim panel which has the oval radio aperture. The radio itself has the same connections on the back.

I mounted the GPS receiver on the top of the dashboard by the driver's side front quarter-light window.

Hello.

Could you tell me where you bought the antenna from? Or atleast what is the connector type needed for it?

Thanks! :)

The antenna comes with the radio.

Hi again.

When you bought the radio it also came with the GPS antenna?

Care to tell me where you bought it? Was it from a Ford dealer? I'm asking this since you have installed an interior gps antenna...

Thanks a lot! :)

YEs it came with the radio.

I see...I have to get one of those still! :(

Was it easy to mount it on the dashboard? The wire is not visible, right? A noob like me would be able to do it?

Thanks again and sorry for bothering you with all these questions!

I fed the wire from the radio area behind the instrument cluster and out to the side by the drivers door seal. Then I ran it up and mounted the antenna atop of the dashboard.

So no, in my car the cable isnt visible (except for the last centimetre where it goes into the the antenna unit)

When my antenna arrives, I will give it a try. :)
