Retrofitting OEM BT?

I have the Ford/Sony 6-CD radio but I don't have BT. I can find what I need on eBay, but is it as simple as plumbing it all in, or do you need to doing anything with the system before it'll work? I'm assuming as it's a Ghia I should have the wiring ready but who knows!

It's fairly easy to do but you will need all the correct parts - shop around (ebay) and be prepared to wait to get the different bits. If your car is a Ghia then I presume it's a Mk2, the facelift Mk2.5 uses a different look and if I recall you'll need a patch lead as well as the module, mic, and voice control stalk (If you want to add vc, otherwise you don't need this). There's lots of threads in this forum about it (including thr Finis numbers and how to do the retrofit) as well as TalkFord. I retrofitted BT with vc into my wifes mk2.5 - no patch lead required.

I've been looking yes lots of thread few complete.  my two penny worth, there are three module types covered by many, many parts

phone only - £30 used

phone with music streaming - £80 used

phone with music steaming and USB functionally - £130 to 190 used

not all cars have all the connections.... many earlier cars may well have the phone only wiring harness hidden in which case for not much work can be done for a bargain

if you want the full monty and either the wires aren't there and or you can't mod the 6 extra and fight the fun for the stereo signals the loom is £230

Ideal solution is the music streaming (not hugely fussed about phone), but I'm also looking at the Connect2 route. Depending on the quadlock I've got I may or may not be able to use an adapter they have to replace the cabled AUX connector I have at present

A 2006 Focus is an MK2. The MK2 did have the 1st generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. This system does not support bluetooth Audio. The 1st generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system only supports bluetooth phone functionality and voicecontrol.

The Focus MK2.5 did optionally have the Sound & Connect system (which is based on the 2nd generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system). next to bluetooth phone functionality and voicecontrol this system also supports bluetooth Audio, USB and Ipod control. Radio's, modules and wiring of the 1st generation and 2nd generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system are not compatible.

 

Personally I would not bother to install the 1st generation Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system. Parts of this system are pretty rare (and expensive) and the system is pretty outdated. If you really need to retrofit the original Bluetooth/Voicecontrol system you should install the (2nd generation system based) Sound & Connect system. However this also requires to change the radio and modify the wiring.

Yeah won't bother with that. Think I'll just check my quadlock and go the Connect2 route if possible
