14 plate fiesta 1.0 ecoboost (125) not starting

Looking for some advice please.

Started the car and drove about a mile down the road and the car cut out on me.

Pulled over and tried starting it again but the car just keeps turning over but not firing.

Tried plugging the car in for a fault code but nothing

Anybody else experienced this?

Any ideas what could be the cause?

Thanks.

There have been a few faulty fuel pumps on these which could cause your issues.  Can you hear the pump priming?

Yes. When I turn the ignition on I can hear the pump priming.

Ok, that's good.  Are you using a basic OBD code reader or something like Forscan?

Not sure what make the reader was as I borrowed it from a friend. Would this make a difference to what faults it picks up?

Yeah, cheap/basic readers only pick up generic faults.  If there are Ford specific codes on there it won't pick them up.  Forscan is ideal for Fords, either via ELM cable and laptop or smartphone and dongle, the software itself is free.

Also been told that I could be worth changing the crank sensor. Where is it located and is it hard to get to?

Why throw parts at it without properly diagnosing it, that gets expensive quickly.
