MK8 Remaps

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am considering a remap for the MK8 1.0 140. Not 100% sure about it just yet but it is something that is creeping around in the back of my mind.

Anybody got any good recommendations? And any places/maps to avoid?

I saw bluefin/superchips have an upgrade which increases the power significantly on both the 125 and 140 version. I remember people complaining on the MK7.5 that the increased torque could ruin the sycnro's, but it seems that the gearbox of the new Fiesta is a lot stronger so that might not be an issue anymore. What I like about bluefin is that you can just replace it back with the original software when you need to see your dealer (warranty). Not sure how 'safe' this is, but it might be a pro for this option.

Here in the Netherlands both MeBu (Ford tuner) and Rica Engineering have remaps. The latest is said to be of high quality, but I'm not sure if they are still as good as in the past when they were more specialized in Volvo and Ford.

I have the 125 version myself as the 140 is still not available here... Something with the taxes on efficiency which makes it too expensive according to the dealership. So I'm really hoping for a good chip which gives me the power of the 140 without messing with the warranty. I know Mountune has a remap which Ford approves so your warranty remains, I'm really hoping they will create a new remap for the MK8 as they only have one for the MK7.5 now. This remap is said to be good, safe and like I already mentioned it doesn't void your warranty. Let's hope they create a new remap for the MK8 soon!

I will be following this topic, very interested in the experiences of people with a remap to their MK8.

To be honest, Mountune would be a perfect map if they come out with one that will protect your warranty.

The bluefin/superchips one is one I was considering especially with what you say about taking it off when convenient. One worry was the torque which you also mention. Would be interested in seeing what others think of the bluefin stuff for the MK8 and will be interesting to see if and when Mountune come out with anything. If I could take the Fiesta up to 155-160bhp and around 200-215nm, it would be perfect.
