Fiesta fuel problems

Featured Replies

HI

I just bought 2008 ford fiesta 1.4 tdci and having some problems with it,

So to try summarise it in the best way when the manual diesel pump by the air box is pumped the engine will run fine and drive for a few miles before giving the fualt.

When the the engines not been manually primed or after a few miles are being primed it will start to lose power momentarily when revving through gears like a judder and eventually it will go into limp mode with the flashing cog icon with the ! In it.

When running on tick over put of limp mode it's at normal revs but judders like it may stall

If not manually primed again will stay in limp mode and if manually primed will run normal for a few miles and tick over properly

I was thinking maybe possible that theres air getting in the system or maybe a bad tank pump not supplying diesel quick enough but these are just guesses

Any help or advice is appreciated

Thanks

Danny

Or maybe a fuel filter that needs replacing? If there was air getting in the system you would see diesel leaking out as there is way more pressure in the fuel lines than the atmosphere. Only other thing I could think of is bad injectors.

We replaced the fuel filter forgot to say it in first post

I was thinking injectors but as it runs fine after a manual pump I thought it must jsut not be getting enough fuel to the engine

Thanks Danny
