I've read a lot about the degas pipe failing and killing the engine.   I know there has been a recall but not sure if mine's been done.   Can anyone tell me what the original and replacement pipes look like?

Incidentally, why is it called a degas pipe?

    i think it's been mentioned a lot more on the Focus forum. From reading that forum over a period of time, the old type pipe is thin black plastic and the new one is more traditional rubber hose. 

    I don't know why it's called a degas pipe but have wondered. I don't think they were called that years ago.
