rrickells
Hello, I was recently told that both my brake lights were out while driving and after closer inspection, I found both bulbs were perfectly fine. The bulbs had been replaced recently too so I checked the fuse box and the fuses were fine so I narrowed it down to the brake pedal switch. I had a look and I know where it is and how to get it out and what not, but I'm confused to which one it is, on the brake pedal there are two switches, one at the top which is white and blue coloured with a smaller black input and one at the bottom which is completely black with a nornal sized grey input cable. Could someone please give me some direction in which one to replace as I don't want to buy the wrong one for no reason, or are they both the same as a backup? TomsFocus
The lower, complete black one is for the brake lights. The higher one is for cruise control...though I wasn't aware any Mk6 even had cruise control, the ECU may also use it to stop throttle being used at the same time as the brake. Part number is 4832217
rrickells
Thank you so much! I'll get that part ordered, I would have taken it to the garage but he said it would take 1 hour and would cost £50 plus the part which is a rip off because all you have to do it turn it and unclip it. As i'm aware it doesn't have cruise control, but it is plugged in with a smaller black clip with brown wires? So it is used for something but i'm not sure. Thank you anyway!
isetta
have you actually checked it with circuit tester to make sure it is that switch which is faulty?

I haven't got one and don't know anyone who has. and don't have the money to buy one. but if the fuse and bulbs are fine, what else would it be?
