To buy or to pay

Conundrum

Want to get a third key programmed (new style key), to pay someone its gonna cost £50

Or I could buy a vcx nano for around £65 and have a go myself

Was also thinking of updating all the modules in the car but ford want around £90 for this but suppose if I went the vcx nano route could do it myself

Which should I do? Anyone used vcx nano for the above?

I tried a VCX Nano a couple of years ago.  Couldn't get on with it at all and sold it on after a couple of months.  Can Forscan programme keys?  It's a far more reliable and safe program.

Iirc there's a secret combo to code keys (assuming you have a working one) without any tools.

Worth a shot.

  • Put a programmed key into the ignition
  • Turn the key to position 2
  • Now turn the key from position 2 to 1 four times, ending on position 1
  • An audible beep should sound confirming the car is now ready to be programmed
  • Press either of the two buttons on all three remotes and listen for another beep to confirm programming
  • Now turn the key back to position 0 and remove from the ignition
  • Wait 30 seconds and then test the remote
