Ford focus 2015 1.0 ecoboost oil recommendation?

This oil does not meet the Ford WSS-M2C-948-B specification that is required for the 1.0 ECOboost.

It is not recommended to use this oil in.

Could it harm the engine? Should it be changed as soon as possible or next time?

On a 1.0 ECOboost you should never use an oil type that does not meet the required WSS-M2C-948-B specification. The 1.0 ECOboost has a wetbelt (timing belt inside the engine that runs though the oil). The WSS-M2C-948-B specification oil was specifically developed for this wetbelt engine and does not affect the material of the wetbelt.

Every other oil type that does not meet the WSS-M2C-948-B specification can (and usually will) affect the material of the wetbelt and cause premature wetbelt failure. Because of the exact same reason it is not allowed to perform an engine flush on the 1.0 ECOboost engine.

If an incorrect oil specification has been used on a 1.0 ECOboost engine it is highly recommended to replace the wetbelts.

So better to change it. But could it harm the engine until next time?

How many times does @JW1982 have to say it :wallbash:, if you put the wrong specification oil in your particular engine it will affect the (wet) timing belt integrity.  If the belt fails it's goodbye engine, so YES it 'could' and very likely WILL harm your engine!

Change the oil and filter as soon as possible and hope it hasn't already damaged the timing belt.

Changed the oil with castrol magnatec, not the oil filter.

Engine oil posts are better than watching YouTube!!!

I swear oil manufacturers and Catholic priests all went to the same school!!

No, for christ's sake.  If you're changing the oil, change the f:censored:king filter as well! :chair:

Don't be rude.

Thank you all for the advice.

What do you think about 100proc. synthetic engine oil? Do the RED LINE 5W20 is harmles for 1.0 ecoboost? I am also thinking over thiker oil like extreme a.m.g 5w30 . The reason is that it's made of PAO and esters.

Does RED LINE 5W20 meet Ford WSS-M2C948-B?

If YES, you can.

If NO, you shouldn't.
