Bonnet open alarm/ car alarm going off.

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I'm getting a problem with my 2015 fiesta ST3.

A couple days ago whilst driving I started to get a bonnet open alarm going on/off whilst driving. I've looked at the latch, cleaned sensor which fixed it temporarily but it's going off again. Now the car alarm is starting to go off in the night. Anyone know how to fix this and are the two related?

my fiesta has two sensors by the bonnet catch. I assume one is to warn it's open and the other is to activate alarm. I have the optional extra perimeter alarm (no standard alarm on Fiesta Style).    If you connect a OBD port reader and use some suitable free software I believe it will show you what activated the alarm so it will show you if it was the bonnet sensor that activated it.

The two are most likely related as the ST's alarm is tied into the bonnet sensor. You can override the sensor by removing the plug and inserting a paperclip. I would recommend doing this and seeing if it solves both of your issues. In my case Ford replaced the full bonnet latch under warranty.
