mjtravis
Hi I have a Fiesta TDCI 2004 for a while but the A/C has never worked ive had a new compressor & re-gassed but now the air con repair man says its not the air con at fault but its because the cooling fan is not coming on. I have checked the fuses in the car passenger side so im at a loss, does anyone have any idea why the fan does not come on?
iantt
fan relay fault probably. the relay is next to the battery. black square box with a tight fitting cover. pull the cover off. run engine , switch air con on and feel /listen for relay clicking. if you hve multimeter you can check feeds to the relay. also there is a fuse in the engine bay that feeds the relays . 40 amp
TomsFocus
If you don't have any luck with that, there's also a green, cyclindrical resistor on the fan cowling that can break, I've changed a few of those on mk6s. Easy to bridge out with a jumper wire to test it.
mjtravis
Thanks for your replies, i had checked the resistor and in car fuse way back and they were ok, i have looked at the relay by the battery just to see if any smoke or damage but i will check to see if it clicks when A/C turned on. mjtravis
Hi i Have looked at the relay by battery there are 2 a grey & a black according to my Haynes Book one is for a fan and other for the engine management, they should both receive 12v on 2 of the relay pins and they do. With the ignition on but not running engine they both have their 12v i listened for clicking on relay when A/C turned on but could not hear anything. Your thoughts would again be appreciated
