MK 7 Fiesta Air con noisy

Hi All

New to this forum and hoping someone here can help with an air con issue on our Fiesta 1.4 Mk 7 - 2012

When the air con is switched on, there is an underlying whirring noise. More annoying and noticeable inside the cabin of the car, around the dash. We purchased a replacement compressor to resolve the issue, or so we thought, as the noise only appears when the air con compressor engages. This noise still remains despite a change of compressor and regas.

So, confused as to what to look into next. The local air con specialist thought the noise was our imagination and did say prior to the replacement compressor, that this was not the problem. Nonetheless, we changed it anyway, but the noise is indeed still there. .

Please help!!!

Paul

I have the same issue with mine, only recently started. I turn the air con off and the noise stops. Turn it back in and I hear it after about 2-3 min.

At least not on our own, though it has cost us about £250 so far and that was very cheap as our friend who is a professional and excellent mechanic changed the compressor for us, otherwise it would have been a lot more!

our car never had this air con noise up until the last couple of months and the car itself has only done 39000 miles, so not even high mileage.

I hope someone out there can offer any further suggestion on this.....

I also get this, I thought maybe it's the rad cooling fan that comes on as soon as A/C is switched on. I was going to run the A/C with the fan disconnected but I don't know if it would cause the system to overheat.

The Aircon will only cool the interior with airflow through the condenser, via fan stationary or via airflow from  driving.

So disconnecting fan will stop Aircon working when stopped.

I wonder what else is connected to the air con from the engine? Not the compressor, so thought maybe it was some other pulley or belt that comes into play when the air con is switched on. Whirring sound seems to come from  whine the dash board - in the centre... Ish!

When I've got out the car the past few days with the air con on there has been an almighty fan blowing for a short while afterwards, no air con and no fan noise. My wife's Mazda 2 diesel would do the same too so would write it off as an air con standard feature

The noisy air con is not a standard feature, as this whirring noise issue only started a couple of months ago. We also have three other friends and family who have similar model fiestas with no issues whatsoever. It is a strange one though and is rather irritating to listen to when driving. It needs to be resolved somehow..... And not by turning the radio up!  ;0)

I've been using aircon a lot lately and it isn't at all noisy.   However, when the engine is switched off I can hear the fan running for about a minute afterwards.

I have a 2015 Fiesta eco boost and had a similar issue in that when I was stationary in traffic the AC/ rad  fan would come on and I would hear a very loud whirring sound and feel some vibration in the cabin area. Upon inspection I found that the lower coolant hose had come loose as the very cheep and flimsy clips holding it in place were broken once I re clamped the hose the sound stopped another this I did notice whilst doing this is that the radiator moves around quite a lot!

what type of heating control do you have , electronic climate control or manual control?

None of the above issues are relevant to this issue sadly. The air con is manual  control. I understand though, about the cooing fan continuing after the car has parked. That is usual of all cars, including y Honda Civic and nothing to do with the air con issue we are having with my wife's car.  The noise is heard within the dash area.... Or so it seems. Still a mystery......

After I had the A/C recharged it is a lot quieter, you only notice the wirring sound when you first switch the a/c on then it goes quiet.

Mine is a 1.25 Fiesta 2014 also and odd noises when air con is on, like a ghostly rotating sound that isn't normal.  Had a new compressor and air con clutch and re-gas apparently, but still the same. Can manufacture the sound by switching air con on and lifting clutch in first gear, then the strange noise which is not normal as have had previous fiestas, any ideas?

I’ve just purchased a fiesta 2016 Mileage 18000, after a hot summer the air con has been on a lot. There’s  been a strange noise in the cabin from air con, it sounds like a small water fountain within the cabin. I’ve taken it back to the dealer who had it on the ramps to check if there was a blockage but the condensation was flowing out of the drain pipe fine. It’s been back to ford under a warranty and they believe there isn’t anything wrong with the air con. But the noise is still there I’m taking it back to the dealer this weekend. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Can anyone help with this issue.

I notice the same noise on my fiesta zetec s a couple of days ago🙈🙈 as my aircon comes on automatically after turning the key( providing the blowers are already on!) I get the whirring/whistling noise also. Could there be a small fan in behind the dash that could be making this noise? Perhaps due to condensation from the air con pump being blown through the pipes, causing the bearing in the fan to whir/whistle??

Just had the same happen to my 2012 Fiesta 1.25 edge,a strange whirring noise from behind the dash when I switch air con on but goes off when air con off, compressor bearings all ok etc,any ideas as seems to be transmitted  through maybe pipes rubbing somewhere possibly?

We've had the car 7 years without this noise?Did anyone find out the answer please?

I had this on mine last year but strangely after I had it re-gassed the noise went away, whether it's pure coincidence or not I don't know

I've got the same.noise on my 2014 ST. Its an harmonic bearing noise coming from the aircon when it's on. Its more evident on a hot day and the pitch of the noise goes up and down with the revs has anyone has anyone had joy yet? I've had it regassed twice and its made no difference.

My car went into Fords  this morning for the noise when the aircon is on..just had a phone call to say it is some sort of air con pipe but it’s needs to be ordered...I’ll up date  when I find out more and when it’s fitted to see if it sorts the noise
