My air con has had an awful lot of use just lately and has worked perfectly.   However, over the last couple of day, when I haven't been using it, it has switched itself on.   Any thoughts?

    No Martin, I don't touch anything and I notice that it's on when cold air starts coming through.

    That is strange, mine only comes on when I press the button or when I select windscreen setting on  the dial.

    I don't have access to one at this time but is there any mention of aircon auto switch on in the manual?

    If you have the temp setting on the coldest, it usually says max a/c next to it on Fords.

    So either max cold setting or blowers set to windscreen engages a/c automatically.

    The temperature is set to 18 Alex.   It does come on if I press the windscreen button but I haven't touched anything.

    Ah you have eatc, not manual then?

    Do you have the fans on auto? It will put a/c on automatically then too.

    Thanks Alex.   Do you know under what circumstances it would switch the A/C on?

    If it's on auto the A/C light can be on almost all the time, but it cycles the clutch as it's needed to maintain the temp and whatever preset humidity Ford have configured.

    It has an air sampler sensor behind the dash which is uses to monitor the internal conditions and uses the A/C and HVAC system to adjust as appropriate.

    You can use auto then override A/C to off, but it will keep coming back on when you use auto.

    Many thanks for the explanation.   I always leave the fan on auto but, in future, if I don't want the A/C on, I'll switch it manual.
