Grab Rail by Handbrake or something like.

This is hit and miss and i might not get a lot or replies but.

Is there any sort of device like a steel grab rail type item to fit by handbrake, its for a fiesta but put it on General as someone in another car might of had one.

I take my elderly dad out and i have a swivel pad to sit him on but to line him up straight he grabs the Handbrake and i get the other arm as there is nothing there.

Any advice or links that could help would be great.

Cheers.

I got one of those for my father after he had a knee replacement last year.
In conjunction with a rotating seat pad he was far more able to enter and exit cars unaided.

I have the armrest but as you said its not that sturdy and its one i fitted it so it moves out of the way,its a very good fit but it moves the bottom console surround

rather than the rest itself, did look at the Genuine one but it sits far back as mine is over the Handbrake.

I have one of those catches which was good but he sits on the seat going backwards so i can hold that side and he get the door frame the other.

I have looked and asked a lot of people with no success as yet, something that attaches down the side of the seat into the and screws into the steel when seat is back.

I think home made item is the only way at the moment.

Thanks for all your feedback on this but being 90 just age alone makes things harder and putting other stuff on top of it.

Something like this below what sticks up but with screw fixing on the side not to the floor.

I'm sure someone in a metal fab shop could knock something up.

I did think this or find some heavy tube and flat the both edges and bend it the similar to the shape on the link.

Just a couple of more ideas further to that one you mentioned in your post last Thursday.

Mate im very grateful for any ideas and still looking into it,it will get to s stage where he wont be able to get in the car at all.

He is 90 so cant ask for miracles as we all know these don't happen.

Hi jace, I appreciate its a difficult situation, just had another thought and experimented using a very short dog lead that I put the loop over the handbrake and then was able to use the rest of the loop to pull/swivel myself in on my leather seat.

See when he gets in he sits on the seat facing outside then grabs the Handbrake to lift him in on that side, the door side i have his arm but once in he uses

the Handbrake again to get him inline and level,i look at some mad/stupid ideas which i can modernize to try and help but i think the Handbrake is strong i hope.
