Phone and Aux Connections

Hello,

Just bought a second hand Fiesta Zetec, 09 plate, and I am having a couple of electrical problems.

When Phone or Aux are selected on the car stereo, I get a 'Mute' reading where I am unable to navigate anywhere else (I am able to re-select Radio, CD and Menu however).

I have tried to plug in a phone, MP3 into the Aux connections, but I still get the same 'Mute' reading.  

Anyone else experienced anything similar, or know of a shortcut menu option that is worth trying?

Do you have a voice / bluetooth module in the car that's not responding?
