Wxtty
Looking for some help! I am looking to take my stripes off of my ST. Does anybody with previous experience know if the paintwork underside will be a completely different colour and if this could be cleaned up to match? Thanks, Brad

Lack of exposure to the sun & elements means the area under the stripes will be brighter than the surrounding area. Longer the stripes were on the worse it will be. Haven't had any myself, but the above should be the gist of it.
robbyvrs
If they've been on for several years then the paint underneath will be a slightly different shade and should have no swirls/ scratches. A good session with cutting polish and maybe a DA on the whole car should match the exposed paintwork to the covered Ford paint is quite easy to correct with a DA and cutting polish, i've done a few of my Fords and they come up great
Wxtty
I'm not actually entirely sure if they are something somebody has had put on or are original. Guess i'll soon see how it comes up
Luke4efc
Mk6 ST did have some that came with stripes. As others have said the area should clean up after a good polish and buff. Same as debadging but on a larger area and more noticeable if it doesn't match.
Mavroz
I guess you will always see the stripes now after several years of paint wear.
TomsFocus
It will depend on what colour your car is as well, some fade worse than others! You can check your reg on ETIS to see if the stripes were fitted from new. You'll definitely need a good polish and decontamination of the surrounding area after removing the stripes, but on some cars the paint will have faded too much to ever match again.
