Exhaust smell in car

I’ve just had my timing belt and chain done at a local garage and now I’m getting an exhaust smell in the car when stationary. I’ve had a look under the bonnet and I have smoke coming from under the black cover in the top middle of the engine (engine cover removed). 

I have attached a photo and it’s the black plastic cover. 

Can anyone let me know what this is.

Chance are it's spilt oil, pull the cover of and look.

I’ll have a look at that. Although It’s been 4 weeks since I had it done and I initially thought the same but the smell is still as strong now as it was then.
