Chevyho
This is my first post here, I have done a lot of research but am still not certain. I have a 2013 Ford Edge SEL 3.5 AWD. I am looking to ad a class 3 hitch and wiring in order to pull a small enclosed trailer with a couple dirt bikes. Total trailer weight of about 2300 lbs. Does this raise any concerns or should I be ok? Thanks for any help.

simonb65
All the info you need including maximum towing capacity (and axle loads) for your specific vehicle are all printed on the VIN sticker that you will find stuck on the passenger or drivers door pillar.
danel321
2013 Ford Edge SEL 3.5 AWD has a towing capacity of 3500 so shouldnt be a problem, we had used this for a towing as a Car towing services in new york. when light weight is required. so it shouldn't be a problem you can tow with this. Tartan1980
Tell me if I am wrong but my Ford fitted towbar is a 2000 kg limit, also I notice that my mpg halves when towing!
bluepeter
Your mpg will decrease when towing , you are pulling all that extra weight.
Edge of Reason
A caravan could be somewhere between 1400 and 1600 kg, so as you are virtually doubling the weight your engine and gearbox have to move, it stands to reason that your MPG will reduce drastically. My Edge does about 32 mpg locally and around 40 on a longer run. When I tow a horse trailer and horse, which will weigh around 1500 kg, my mpg drops to about 22-24. kelvin1950
My MPG drops when towing my caravan but not by that sort of amount. Around 32mpg when towing.

I’m talking about the mpg whilst towing, not the average mpg of a tank of fuel, including towing.
