Ollyd
Hi, new member here, sadly first visit is with an issue. Have a 2008 2.0tdci estate with manual 6 speed. Problem I’m having is that all gears work as usual except for second. Lever moves into position but no drive or noises. Is this a common problem on these? I’m guessing either linkage out of adjustment (hopefully) or something serious has happened inside the box. Anybody had any experience of this? Any advise on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Kawasaki kid
I would be inclined to get in touch with a local gearbox specialist and explain your fault and see what they say as if you go to a garage they normally send the car or box to the specialist anyway.
Frembrit
I agree with Ian. I've not heard of this happening before. I'm no expert but if you are selecting 2nd and nothing happens then it could be something internal like a broken selector fork, worse case scenario...if a part of it has broken off then it could potentially whizz around the box and cause more damage, though I suspect if this is the case and you've been driving around for a while then it could already at the bottom of the box or wedged somewhere. I take it that it just revs the engine when you put it in to 2nd?
pragmatix
Definitely not a common fault, most likely broken selector.
