Stereo Drive fault

Every time I try to put a disc into my 6 cd stereo it says drive fault and spits back out the disc. 

Sometimes it does play but still not perfectly and keeps skipping. 

Any ideas or recommendations to repair it?

Usually not repairable unfortunately.
The disc tray tends to lose alignment after a while because of general wear & tear.

Very common fault,, expensive to repair, when mine went several years ago and spares could be got i was quoted over £200. Needles to say i went the aftermarket route.
