Connall
Hi all and thanks for any help, tips or how to’s you may provide, or even if you’re simply here to have a look, welcome. I bought a 65 plate Black Edition Ecoboost on Halloween of this year (18) I’m going to start a build thread here, although I warn you this will be slow. I am by no means a mechanic, this is my second car but first I’ve bought and will be logging everything done to the car here. Any feedback is welcome and I encouraged you to comment with ideas. I’ve attached pictures of the car from the day I took it for a test drive, and will try to add new photos each time something is done. So far, I’ve replaced the reverse lights with Autobeam ones. Highly recommend. I park in a dark train station car park each morning and the standard lights simply weren’t sufficient. In doing this, discovered the wing nuts were a pain to get out. These haven’t been put back in, although will be once the full units lights have been replaced. The 2 torx screws holding the lights on each side have become rounded, so will be sourcing new ones from the local ford dealer soon. Front indicators have been replaced by a second hand pair of autobeam LED performance indicators bought second hand from @Gommy (check out his thread for his red edition, named My MK7 Fiesta). This has removed the “fried egg look”, and these are ***** fantastic. I have access to a secure shed in which I can do more hands on work, so this Saturday afternoon (8/12/18) I parked the car and the front wheels came off. I painted the brake callipers red, left it to dry over night and came back about noon the next day and it was all dry. This was also the same day I installed the front indicators. With help, I put on a sunstrip I managed to find on eBay for a good price. Although this flew off on the motorway yesterday (oops) so am looking to get one put on from a local company that specialise in stickers and decals. I’ve put LED strips on the inside in all 4 footwells that are plugged into the 12v, but want to upgrade these to be hardwired in. I have also changed the standard footwell lights to red LEDS, the main interior light to a white autobeam LED, and an LED red pad in the boot. Added an ‘S’ badge underneath fiesta on the back, and an ecobeast underneath the Ecoboost. Want to replace the front ‘s’ but can’t get the original off, as it’s rusted like hell, any suggestions? thats all I can think of for now, I will take a few more pictures and add them in later but this is all I have for now. Please ask any questions or comment anything 🙂

Have them fitted to the back indicators and have to say they do make some people back off if they are driving close behind you. Nice subtle mods you've done also 👍. Connall
Going to order back and mirror ones this week hopefully, alongside a new sunstrip getting fitted by a pro lol. That and hopefully a mk8 aerial before Xmas and that should be me done until after the new year 😀
Connall
Got a pic last night of the red callipers with the wheels on, looks smashing I’d say. Also getting these hub gel overlays, with only have asked for it with just the ‘s’. I saw this fiesta on a Facebook page and thought about the stripe along the side, but in red on mine? How do folks think this would look?
zain611
The red calipers go well with the red accents. Ford probably should of had that as standard on the red edition. Yesterday I came across someone driving a red edition. Was merging in and he gave me way. Must of been looking at my zetec s 🤣
Connall
Funnily enough so did I yesterday, was on an empty dual carriageway at 40, came up to the national signs and we both gave it the beans
Ryan_Tango
Nicely done up to now, get yourself a rear disc conversion done then spray the calipers red, will look the nuts and braking performance will be improved slightly too, I did this on my Focus when I had it and the car felt much more stable under braking. Better yet my car insurance wasn't even bothered they just said thanks for letting us know
zain611
@Ryan_Tango +1 to Ryan. Did a rear drum to discs brake conversion on my mk6.5 fiesta zetec s and noticed the difference in braking. People say it doesn't really make a difference but I noticed I don't have to press the brake pedal that much and all 4 brakes seems to engage. With drums I had to adjust them after a few months and I do little mileage.
Connall
@zain611 @Ryan_Tango I was actually thinking about, but not really sure of how to go about it/exactly what parts i'll need and how long it'll take. Would it be easier getting a mechanic to do it? although it kinda defeats the purpose as I want to do as much work as possible myself. any ideas? If someone was breaking another zetec s should I get their front brakes? Would they just need fitted onto the back axle?

For a Fiesta you can buy a complete rear axle from a ST which will come with all the parts necessary, you can't put the front brakes on the back as they'd likely not fit and even if they did would likely cause a bad brake imbalance. Anything you get stuck on you could YouTube it as that's what I did, the hardest part for me was the handbrake cable and bleeding the brakes
b4zz
looks a nice fiesta you got and like the subtle changes you have made. look forward to any more updates you make on the car

Also I will try a get a few pics today/tonight of lights both inside and out.
Connall
Took it for a shower this afternoon 😀 also included some some pics of the interior lights. Replaced the standard footwell and interior light with leds of red and white as you can see, and have 4 led light strips on inside which are remote controlled
zain611
You can check my guide I made when I did the conversion on my mk6.5 fiesta. Don't think it would be a difference doing it on the mk7.
Connall
Mud guards came today, will hopefully have them on over the weekend
b4zz
the mud gards will be a great add on for this time of year and will also help a bit to stop stones and grit from battering the side skirts too much.
Connall
Looking for some advise The mud guards have a bit of a weird shape to them. I'll take a photo tonight, but they basically look like they curve down the side, then along the actual flap below the car (where the red ford is) is straight, but has a flap coming up, and I've absolutely no clue how to fit them, had the wheels off and it isn't jumping out at me. b4zz
the flaps look good and will halp protect the body work a little bit from grit and stone chips
Connall
Took the LED strip and ecobeast sign off the other day. Lights wouldn't stick are were just a pain, and the ecobeast sticker just didn't have my fancy any more. Looking into getting a pinstripe along the back bumper/diffuser
Connall
Done this at the weekend. Not totally sold on it yet and it may come off soon
