Chris182
Hi I've got a ford mustang 16 plate face lift with the big sync 3 console but its running sync 2 I've rang Ford and they keeps saying I'm going to need to upgrade my console, the console is already the one installed in the sync 3's. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where I can get the files and how to update it Thanks Chris
Stoney871
Sync2 and Sync3 use the same screens but afaik they have different APIM modules and run incompatible OS.IIRC there are some here that have done this upgrade, hopefully they will chip in with all relevant info.Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)
tomtom70
The APIM hardware is different, no sure about the displays, I thought Ford also switched to capacitive (vs. resistive) touchscreens with Sync 3.
vagabondB
APIM and display both are different. If you want to replace Sync 2 with Sync 3 you have to change both
simrad
Display is also different. SYNC2 screen is connected through a middle internal pin connector to the APIM and SYNC3 connects the APIM to the screen using a frakra connector. Then, to upgrade to SYNC3 the full screen+APIM must be changed plus an external fakra GPS Antenna.
