gearbox for 1983 1600 ghia

hello good afternoon, I am looking for a replacement gearbox for my 1983 |Mk 3 escort 1600 ghia I have been told there lots of  different gearboxes and I need the right one to match up to the splines  is there any id no. on the right  gearbox ?? any help in locating one would be gratefully received, thank you so much from Steve Spouse.
