TDR|XTC
Hello guys! Started the project a few weeks ago, it is almost done, some minor tweaks here and there. It has: - BMW F10 520d Turbo (it has a great spool) - Custom made kevlar clutch disk with SACHS OEM kit - Custom exhaust - FMIC with custom made pipes - 0445110297 injectors (the highest flowing for the HDI engine) - 3.1 map bar sensor - New front radiator with slimline fan I hope you guys like it as much as I like driving it! I'mAnExpertTrustMe
Nice to see something a little different from time to time! How much does the BMW turbo differ from stock? Been able to run it on a dyno yet?
zain611
Nice to see someone tuning the 1.6 TDCI engine. Have the same engine in my mk6.5 fiesta zetec s. Was originally planning on mapping mine by HDI tuning but don't know now because of the plan of putting up an emissions charge in London in 2021. TDR|XTC
Thanks guys! At the moment it's at 180 bhp, no stress whatsoever! We are aiming for 200+. The BMW Turbo is amazing, even the tuner was amazed on how strong it is. We aim for 2.2k full pressure in it!.... So imagine how lowdown it spools. To zain611...the tuning was made in collaboration with Steven from HDITuning. Top guy, knows his stuff very well. Will soon post future upgrades here, maybe some videos! Was thinking of getting the stage 1+ map from him to up the power to 120hp but again if that diesel charge comes in London in 2021 I would have to sell the car a year before before it greatly depriciates. It feel like a waste of money if I mapped it and only kept it for a year. He recently has a workshop in Bristol now so you could visit him for a live map. If you do want to add this turbo there are some things you need to consider. We had a big issue with the actuator. It turns out there are some actuators for this turbo (or any others) that are CANbus controlled (I originally had 6NW 010 430-03). Those cannot be managed by the ECU, thus the turbo geometry cannot be controlled. You need one which is controlled by PWM signal, which works with the EDC15 or EDC16 Bosch ECU's. (Hella 6NW 010 099 xx series are PWM controlled.) Still though, when the turbo spools up, i've been in 2.x, 3.x litre Audi's which feels weak. Learned a lot from this project. Future mods will come for sure. I need a new suspension system ASAP.

TDCiST
Haven’t seen anyone pushing the 1.6tdci for a while! Good updates! And good luck with 200bhp!
RoomyMusician
Amazing, internals are still stock?

TDR|XTC
Stock internals, stock gearbox. The OEM pressure plate from Ford is strong enough to just add the kevlar clutch. Atm is at 206hp and 400Nm of torque, and will be for a while, until I add new suspension and some minor changes here and there. Thanks guys! zain611
Thats a high power output. Normally hear people getting around to 150hp. Must be quicker than a ST
