Yeah the ib5 has been much the same for years. Certainly until recently when they used it in the ecoboost Fiesta if I’m not mistaken?

The IB5 gearbox that was used on the MK2/MK2.5 is basically the same gearbox as the IB5 gearbox that was used on the MK1/MK1.5. The only differences are basically the different gear ratio's and the fact that the MK2/MK2.5 gearbox does not have a speed sensor (speed is measured by the ABS sensors).

The latest design IB5 gearbox that was used on the Focus MK3/MK3.5  1.0 ECOboost 100 HP and the Fiesta MK7.5  1.0 ECOboost 100 HP, 125 HP and 140 HP is basically an uprated/improved version of the older IB5 gearbox. The IB5 gearbox needed to be uprated/improved to handle the relative high torque figures of the 1.0 ECOboost. This latest design IB5 gearbox has many differences from the older IB5 gearbox. The latest design IB5 gearbox can easily be identified by the drainplug which the old IB5 gearbox did not have.

Ford is currently retiring the IB5 gearbox. It is replaced by the new modular design MX65 gearbox which offers both 5-speed (150 Nm and 215 Nm) and 6-speed (215 Nm) versions. The new MX65 gearbox shares some of the internal parts with the IB5 gearbox.
