This seems to be all the rage currently, post 2 pictures ONLY...your current car and the one from 10 years ago!

'97 Peugeot 306 Miami.  1.4 petrol 75bhp.  Modifications - CD player instead of tape deck, digital clock and outside temp sensor, 15" GTi6 Cyclone alloys (check that arch gap, it came on 13" steels! )

306miami2.thumb.jpg.98deffe8d58c27037ed370d967e596ad.jpg

'12 Volkswagen Golf Match Bluemotion Tech.  2.0 diesel 140bhp.  Modifications - 3D Gel plates, chrome exhaust trim, dice valve caps.

@TomsFocus have you put some grease or similar on the valve caps, assuming they are metal threads.

i don’t think I have a picture of my 10yr old car, would a stock image count?

Good point but these are plastic caps so no seizing issues!  I ran a set of metal Ford ones for 3.5 years with no issues though, can only assume other people don't check the pressures often enough.

Yeah a stock photo is fine...as long it's as close as possible to the spec and colour etc!

10 year ago I was 11 so couldn't drive then 😂

Was thinking of getting gelled plates but if I have to keep my car till next year I don't see the point.

You could always post a pic of your family's car at the time if you want to take part. ;)

Ok, so I thought 10 years ago was around 2001, in which case I would have been looking for a stock image of my trusty Corsa - 65K Miles in a 999cc club spec which I bought from new and sold after 18months! I did 500m a week to and from work then every weekend did 800m round trip to see my then girlfriend, unlike my girlfriend the car never let me down!

Anyway, 10yrs ago I was driving my 1.6 Renault Megane WSR coupe which I loved and still miss today. I’m now driving a 1.5tdci PS focus ST Line which I own because I wanted a practical car apparently.

I only had it a few months, but this is what my car looked like in 2009. (Not my pic, but looks the same).

And of course my current car, I think its actually the same size externally. Haha.

I still own the car I had 10 years ago in addition to my ST, so this game doesn't really work for me!

Due to having 4 kids and a mortgage, all my cars in the last 20 years have been so boring I haven't taken any photos of them! 🙄. 😥 😀

One of these then? 😝

Gel plates are nice, I did have to replace one of mine hence the upgrade, used to run pressed metal but don't think they look right on newer cars.  I'll probably go for 4D plates for whatever my next long term car will be.

Obviously not, lol. I've actually seen a few advertised on Gumtree recently.
When I was younger my parents had an old Y reg Mk2 Ford Granada and then later an F reg Mk3 Granada 2.0. He went for the Granada because we towed a caravan and toured Northern France with it on holidays.

At one point I had a bed in it and was working on the cupboards, but then I changed my mind and fitted some captain seats from a Kia Sedona and a dog cage in the back. Then I took those out and was in the process of making a wrap around sofa against the back door and up one side when the engine unexpectedly died ☹️

Vans are great if you have a plan, but I never knew what I wanted from it!

@WES180 @TomsFocus I was 11 not 3 years old 10 years back to have a booster seat and a little tikes flimstone car 😂.

Trying to remember back what car my dad had then. It was one of these 3 cars. Don't have exact pictures of his cars.

Mk4 golf which he properly modified. Bought five spoke star like wheels from America, did an engine swap putting in the 1.8T from the audi S3, R32 bumpers, seats and other bit.

He actually recently bought a set of golf anniversary wheels which he might put on his bora. It's on the pic below. _20190119_111130.thumb.JPG.cfbbb29caa994b9dee5d0459f13c9b11.JPG

A Peugeot 106 1.5 NA diesel zest 5 door. Rare finding them in 5 door plus it was slow. _20190119_111150.thumb.JPG.54e1c40aa0e6a45b8713f0d1c91ac1cd.JPG

Or a fiat uno. He made it look like the turbo model. Sadly one day someone rear ended him and what my dad said was the car that rammed him was still revving their engine moving forward so the driver must of got the pedals wrong. _20190119_111207.thumb.JPG.7d30001b2e0be39389679b52bb54a6df.JPG

My Dad had a Verona as well!  Cost £300 with T&T and had a huge dent in the rear door.  Had to get rid of it when MOT rules changed and all doors had to be operational.  So he bought another Mk1 for sub £500.

I've toyed with the idea of a home made camper for years, always look round them at the local VW shows and get motivated to do it but never have so far.  Would want something with personal toilet & kitchen facilities for day trips and dub shows etc.   But then the costs and reality of using a van daily put me off, if I had some disposable income and space for a second car I probably would try it!

Fair point!  Maybe a push bike was more realistic!

10 years ago I was driving my Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 TDI - one of the best cars I've ever had and I don't seem to have kept a photo so here's an image of an identical one!

Plus current Fiesta (actual car this time!)

I did enjoy driving it, the higher position and seats like arm chairs were really nice. It was my only vehicle so costs weren’t too bad - 1 set of insurance / tax. I don’t think I’d have another VW though, the scene tax is just ridiculous. TBH mine was a shed when I bought it, for too much money and I think I was lucky to nurse it for so long.

But it was handy and fun to play with.
