AdamC11
Hi Guys, Just a quick question. Ive noticied that when the engine is warm its quite noisey when stood outside the car. Its only done 500miles just. I was expecting the engine to be quiet? Its a Ford Fiesta MK7 1.4 16v Is it just me being pickey? Cheers
DONFRAMAC
Hi Guys, Just a quick question. Ive noticied that when the engine is warm its quite noisey when stood outside the car. Cheers The air filter housing is no longer on top of the engine, so more noise will escape upwards. I once had a Renault 5L, which had an aluminium head and it let out a horrible warble noise, from the 3-bearing crankshaft. That plus the scrapy noise from all-round drum brakes, made me change for a Fiat 127 with 5-bearing OHC engine as soon as possible, and even that had layshaft noise from the simple bearings in the gearbox. Almost all cars have something you just have to ignore. My last car, a Yaris D-4D, had a noisy seal at the top of the drivers door, going over bumps, with the seal dry. My current Mk 6.5 Fiesta Zetec Climate 1.25 has a drivers door noise from the window glass/top seal, and the gearbox was a really baulky one for a few thousand miles, and I am still very deliberate with it at 5,400 miles, but at least it can behave in sub-zero temperatures now.
