Guys, about to get a Mk8 Vignale. Want to install some LED Bulbs for the fog lights/cornering lights. Before I start pulling things apart, has anybody removed the covers on a MK8 Vignale yet please?

Thanks, Dave

Hi jsk, thanks, watched this a couple of days ago, although the actual light is very similar to the ST, the surrounds are very different. If I break the cover itself whilst removing, not a problem, but, if I break the bumper then that is very different.

There is a possibility that I can get to it from behind, but, need to check when it arrives.

The best place to go is in the wheel arch behind where the fog lights are positioned. There will be 3 screws undo them and then pull the wheel arch cover you’ll be able to see the fog light bulb then you can replace them.

Thanks, I will have a go when it arrives, I am sure the brochure will detail how it is done.

Just had a look at the online owners manual, it says to unclip the outer cowling and then unscrew the lamp to get access behind, so, essentially the same as in the vid above.

I have a Vignale aswell and I’ve tried to take off the cover but it’s super stiff and feel like I will scratch the body work. Have you found a way to do this Dave ?

If you start at the inner edge (number plate end) and gradually ease the cover out, you’ll find it comes out easily. A plastic trim remover helps too! Just remember if you’ve got front parking sensors then there’s one in the cover, so be careful not to stress the wiring that’s attached to it. When you replace it just line up the tongues on the cover with the appropriate hole, and press evenly until it’s back in place. I used Autobeam LED’s in mine, and the difference is amazing!
