MK3 DRL Wiring - Sidelight and Headlights

Hi, I've bought some DRL's which I'm hopefully fitting at the weekend, the standard plastic triangle ones (sadly glossy plastic not stock like matt). I've managed to find some that go half brightness with the headlights although it took a while as a lot either didn't dim or go a chav blue instead.

Anyway, it looks easy enough to install (fuse tap) splicing with the headlight wire so they dim when on, is there something I can instead do it to so they dim with either the sidelights or the headlights? I'd rather they dim with either to avoid problems but I presume they are on different wires in the headlight unit so I'm not sure where the best place to do it from is.

Thanks.

So guess the same principle would work on the MK2? As mines is spliced into the headlight to dim.

Thanks, so final question, what colour is the sidelight wire, I did look at the wiring diagram where I presume it is 'Pos' but I couldn't see the colours just long values.

Pins 5 = Grey/Brown (GY/BN) = High beam

7 = Black/Yellow (BK/YE) = Ground

8 = Blue/Green (BU/GN) = Turn Signal

 10 = Brown/Blue (BN/BU) = Low beam

12 = Yellow/Blue (YE/BU) = Position light
