Fiesta Driveshaft Warranty

Hi, first post on here so apologies if it's in the wrong place...

I need some advice/reassurance regarding the driveshaft on a Fiesta and if it is covered by the warranty?

I took my car for it's first service not too long ago at Evans Halshaw and they informed me that the driveshaft needed replacing but they weren't covered to do it under the warranty and should contact the dealer I bought the car from. After weeks of chasing I've got the car booked in to be inspected next monday at the dealer I bought it from, but they still wouldn't confirm whether this would be covered by the warranty, and is instead based on the decision of whoever looks at and carries out the work on the day??

Now I know that this is a very common known fault with these cars, a fault which Ford is well aware of and have been reassured by a colleague that they know quite a number of others who have had the same issue and successfully had it replaced free of charge under the warranty, yet anyone at Ford I have spoken to is still so reluctant to agree to this.

Is this just a case of them knowing the repair is covered by my warranty and just trying it on to see if we will pay before giving up and agreeing, or is it genuinely down to the person on the day and it may not be covered at all?

Thanks,

I can't speak for the car world but I'll make a little assumption that the warranty process is very similar, if not the same, as it is in the bike trade.

Any Ford dealer should be able to do warranty work on a Ford regardless as to where it was bought and whilst those who do warranty claims get a feeling for whats warrantable or not it's simple enough to put a claim in and see what the manufacturer says.

That's how it works for me in the bike trade so unless it is totally different in cars.....

Yeah, what's wrong with the driveshaft? I've not heard of any common issues. How old is the fiesta?

I would expect them to not commit until they have had a look to see if damaged in an accident or impact with obstacle in road etc.

Is the car under 3 years old? If not warranty may not come into play.

If under 3 years , the warranty may also not be withheld if the dealership think the damage is not component failure but is accidental damage etc.

I got a new driveshaft fitted under warranty in Aug20. In Jan21 I started to hear knocking noise again. Checked this and boot is ripped along the seam. Told this is not covered under warranty and my warranty is now up. How can Ford say that when it is a defect in product?

I've had 5 Fiestas and never had a drive shaft problem.
