sioneon
Has anyone ever uprated the IB5 gearbox to properly handle the ecoboost power outputs? Seems a waste of time having limited power in 1st/2nd if some sturdier internals would allow you to properly push the engine in every gear. Also, anyone know what torque the new 6 speed gearbox is rated for?
Nismex
Is the new 6 speed the getrag 6MTT215? I assume they use this in all the non ST versions with the 1.0T? If so getrags site states it has a variable torque between 150nm and 215nm. I assume for the 1.0T it’s just the 215nm rated version.
Eric Bloodaxe
Yes, there's a couple of other threads on here on similar topics. I think the box is rated at 215nm on the Mk 8. I've not found the change on mine as snappy as the earlier version and a few others have said something similar. My dealer checked it out and declared it normal, but they agreed it's not as slick as the earlier version, but in their view so far, a stronger box and no problems with reverse which several people I know have experienced.
