Problems with shifting

Hello,

My Escort 1.6 had got a problem as off lately.

It comes equipped with the standard 4 speed gearbox and has gotten a problem when trying to shift into 1st and 2nd.

When the engine is off i can engage all gears without a problem, if I start the car in 1st gear I can drive it normally without any noises, crunching sounds, ...

When the engine is spinning I can't get the gearbox into 1st or 2nd gear. It does not make any noise when i try it, no grinding, chrunching or anything. It's just very hard/impossible to push the gear into

1st or 2nd gear. Reverse does work but it crunches.

What could the problem be?

Sounds like clutch drag to me.

Had a look today and it was the self adjusting mechanism at the clutch pedal that did not adjust. Held the plastic gear and pulled the pedal up a bit, heared 2 clicks and now the car shifts as is should be.
