Jamie Badman
We've had a problem with our SMAX (2007) for a while - it starts, stalls then won't start. RAC called a couple of times before we had fuel injectors replaced. This morning it happened again and this time the RAC guy said it's the Fuel Pressure Control Valve sticking. He thinks it's something we can get as a separate part now rather than as a larger (expensive) unit. Is this the case? If so, anyone know what part I need, and is this something I should be able to remove and replace easily myself? Thanks - Jamie

This is attached to the high pressure fuel pump and not available separately from Ford for your engine. They are available online etc though, here is just the top ad on eBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-FOCUS-MK2-1-8-TDCI-Fuel-Injection-Control-Valve-Pump-Pressure-Regulator-OEM/261854063453?epid=1837289465&hash=item3cf7b7eb5d:g:m2UAAOSwJTNbxI2e Not sure what access is like on the SMax but as long as you can reach it, it's easy to swap over. Locate the 'spider' on the front of the engine, then look below that and towards the left and you should see the fuel pump with the FPR right there. I'm sure the RAC etc wouldn't have overlooked it, but has the fuel filter been changed recently? They often clog up far more quickly than Ford service intervals suggest! We had the filter changed just over a month ago so that should be good. Just to confirm, is this the regulator (in pic)? That's the part the RAC guy pointed to 😉 Appreciate your help!
