Hi,

I have an Mk 4 Titanium X with Auto Climate Control.

Can someone please confirm if you can make voice adjustments to the auto climate control?

Basically, if I say “Set Temperature to 21C” it’s not recognised as a valid command but I am sure this feature was available with my previous Mk 3.5 Titanium X Focus.

Thanks.

I don't think voice activated temperature control is incuded in the mk4 with sync3, like you it was in my mk 3.5 , although to be honest it something I have not missed.

Ok, thanks for the confirmation.

I thought it may have been an optional setting that I have missed.

I quite like the general idea of voice commands whilst driving.

I just wish there was a voice command to take you back to the home screen instead of reaching/stretching over to manually press the home button icon.

AFAIK when Ford introduced Sync 3 on the Mk 3.5 Focus it dropped the Sync based climate option that was available with Sync 2.   I understand it may be possible to hack Sync 3 to activate this feature.

My Mk5 Mondeo had the climate function available on the Sync 3 system. Voice control also worked but TBH it was easier just to turn the temp control knob!

Thanks for the information.

Now you say, my previous Focus which I thought was the Mk 3.5 did have Sync 2.

Just to clarify, did the early Mk 3.5 Focus have Sync 2 and the later ones have Sync 3.

Also, am I correct in saying that the Mk 3.5 focus cannot be upgraded from sync 3 to Sync 3.3 which is the current version fitted in my Mk4 Focus.

Sync 3.3 is only available for MY19 vehicles  see Fordhacks post for full list of build numbers and sync versions applicable.

Sync 3 climate options are model specific. It's not that Sync 3 can't provide climate on the Focus, just that Ford chose not to enable it.

The change from Mk3.5 Sync 2 to Sync 3 was for 2017 model year cars, so cars build from Q3 2016 onwards.

I understand Ford also use different Sync 3 hardware specs i.e. some have more memory, so I suspect some versions Sync 3 software are not backward compatible.

My first Mk3.5 ST was Sync2, current one is Sync3.
I have added the climate menu to my Sync3 but there is a common error whereby if you adjust the independent zone temperature on screen then the opposite side changes instead which is annoying.
