exhaust note

my 1.6 zetec has a standard exhaust but sounds quit sporty, is this common for a zetec with the ti-vct engine

If it has been replaced recently the  very much so they can sound a bit sportier, especially aftermarket replacement stuff, but in my experience and overall the focus when you have your ear to the box they do sound a little throaty when compared to similarly sized motors. I once queried a friendly Ford after a health check about the sound as on the ramps I thought I had a bit of a blow (boom-boom) but the lass looking over it confirmed it to be just how they sound when you're underneath..

Was a pleasant surprise for my wallet at least!
