Clutch Fault Diagnosis

Hi guys,

My 2004 Focus 1.8 petrol has lost all resistance in the clutch pedal rendering it totally ineffective.                                         I fitted a new three part Borg and Beck clutch kit four months ago and the clutch has been fine until now , therefore , although not impossible , I am reluctant to suspect the slave cylinder ( due to its relatively recent renewal) , leaving the master cylinder as the only other possible culprit ! My question is :- Is there a way of finding out for sure whether the master or slave is at fault ?

Thanks in anticipation.

Check to see if drivers foot well is wet with brake fluid and take a look up at the top of the clutch pedal

master cylinder sits at the back of it and it made of plastic and is known to break 🙂
