Sounds good, I'm only 10 mins away so will probably have a look around.  I can't bring a fast ford though...will a vacuous Volkswagen be allowed?

Few pictures from this morning if anyone's interested!

Not much there but it was quality over quantity tbf.  The actual MK4 ST launch was very odd though...a LHD car, with a dent in the wheel arch that hadn't been valletted properly...oh and it was roped off so you couldn't even see inside.

Some very nice pics there, Tom. The Mk 1 Escort takes me back - though mine was only an 1100😢

New Focus ST looks good - you can't see the dent in the photo. (Edit - correction: spotted it!)

Saw the prices for this the other day, £29,495 for the diesel, £31,995 for petrol, plus £1,100 on both for an estate. Seemed a bit steep, but it seems there will only be the one version, no ST-1 to give a lower "price from" etc. Also seems the lsd will be standard on petrol, but won't know for sure until Ford release the full price list/ordering guide and put it on the configurator. Still about £2,500 more than the Hyundai i30n Performance, though, and about £500 above a Civic Type-R.

That Escort was mint tbh, it'd just been resprayed I think! My great Aunt had one as well, it was her first car and she always talks of it fondly.

The ST275 does seem very expensive I agree...and that's before any optional extras.  The first year tax was also very high, about £850 iirc!! :o. Not sure how that compares with the Civic or the i30n though, I'm not in a position to buy new so haven't really looked before but was shocked at that figure on the spec board.

What I remember best about the Escort was the superb gearchange, probably because with the 1100 you got to use it a lot!😀.

As for the ST, yeah, I think the first year tax is par for the course on this type of car under the present highway robbery sorry, road tax, system. We'll have to see if the ST is worth it compared to the others, but it might look better as a "nearly new" in a year or so.
