LondonFiesta
I’m useless with stuff like this. Can someone recommend a place in London or Reading who can help me or do you guys usually use the dealer for changes? I just want auto lock to work. Don’t really want to buy all the kit - VWs and BMWs seem much easier to find specialists hence why I ask if the dealers can make these changes? Thanks! Stoney871
The software is free online via the Forscan forum and a modified usb ELM327 cable is no more than £20 (cables from tunnelrats are regarded as the best ones). As long as you back up all original data prior to rewriting any settings (so you can roll back if something goes awry) you will be safe.Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)
LondonFiesta
Thanks - I’ve ordered that, had a first glance at the very confusing Forscan site and will have more questions!
isetta
Forscan is free for a windows laptop. If you want it for an android/apple tablet/phone it is about 7 quid, can't remember exactly. I have the wifi and usb cable ELM327 devices from Tunnelrat and forscan on laptop and iPhone. Very handy. (I can't tell you about the auto lock though). I'm sure tunnelrat in the past did one that had usb cable and wifi combined in one but they don't seem to have that now
Freddy42
I've downloaded Forscan and it needs an activation code to continue which I don't have and can't see how to get. The site is confusing and seems to give instructions for the extended version only.
Stoney871
The code is generated from the hardware ID of the computer / laptop you install the software on- https://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8545&p=28698#p28698 Sent from my SM-G965F (S9+)

jace1969
Just a quick one. Is this program best on a blank laptop with just these sort of programs on because of a conflict between programs like a very small HDD just for diagnostic tools as i use to use a old dell just for this but been ages ago when i had my vauxhall but never sorted out the ford one. Can i just download the Forscan on this windows 10 as i have the switchable ELM237 as had it for ages, just download the Forscan and the key generator or something like that. I've used Forscan on the 'daily' laptop with various other programmes for 5 years and never had any conflict. It started as a Win7 Laptop and has been 'upgraded' to Win8 and Win10 since. It really is as easy as downloading it and away you go. Getting the correct drivers for the ELM cable is where people can have problems. Will have a mess with the ELM one day as just stuck in a box with my op-com adapter and my code reader/delete one.
ThaiFiesta
Does anyone know if global window closing can be enabled using FORScan and, if so, for what specifications if Mk7.5?
isetta
I have FORScan on a windows xp laptop with loads of other general stuff on. Good to see forscan is still fine with Xp . So many other programs these days seem to have been deliberately modified to make them cause problems on Xp like a conspiracy to make everyone upgrade from Xp. I know Microsoft don’t support xp with updates but that does not mean we should stop using it. (Actually I think NHS did a deal with Microsoft so they could still get updates)
jace1969
Just put Forscan on my windows 10 and drivers of the link off the Makers site (Tunnel) which is my ELM and open Forscan and red light lit on the ELM and went onto the connect (not connected to car) and the connected came up on bottom of Forscan, also checked Device Manager and no conflict and all there so ready to have a look. Do the mk7 2011 Titanium.. have the windows close off holding key fod button.....auto close...and lock doors when you drive, not a big problem if it don't but i just don't know. And the weird thing, when its looking for the Elm on Forscan it says searching Wifi which its not a Wifi elm,is there 2 programs of the Forscan (usb/Wifi) Aint tried this for years and forgot everything on this, did go onto the main Tunnel site but i did see 2 Forscans on there. ThaiFiesta
You need to change the Com setting in Forscan from Wi-Fi to wired connection. The tunnelrat site or info that came with your ELM will tell you what settings are needed.

jace1969
Got it to work at last,a stupid thing but nothing to do with setting,i have a longer lead what is male/female to make it easier but didnt work with that on so direct it worked fine and have all now. Can i do lock doors at over 10mph or the auto window closure and stuff,i have all 4 electric windows. Also thanks for the help ....Stoney.......And LondonFiesta for stepping onto this topic for my help and hope it helps you as well. Also reading somewhere on the internet it said whats the most common thing that people has done and Global window auto closing came towards the top and this is one of the things i would like. The read off like a spread sheet with all the list of the codes/numbers to do a lot of this stuff where you look at the paper for where its under and get the code.
