Fan running due to temp isn't impossible in this weather on a diesel but it's more likely to be doing a DPF regen.  Have you only been doing short runs recently?

Hi

Thanks for the fast reply yes i do short journey to work a few times a day and if it is a dpf regen what do i need to do.  I've only had the car for about 6 weeks off a dealer they gave me a warranty but im worried if it runs out and it cost me alot of cash .

Sorry I'm rubbish with cars lol

Dpf regen will occur quite often. What distance are your journeys and what type, motorway, a roads town driving?

Hi Ian

I'm just on normal roads and its about a 10 minute drive each way . Ok the fan goes loud but im more concerned with the knocking noise when the fan goes loud is this what it is and if so what do i need to do

Cheers

10 minute drive isn't sufficient for a dpf regen to complete, that could be why it's trying every time with the fan on . As for the noise, it could be any number of reasons for this noise. Not easy to diagnose on a forum . I would get a garage to investigate . Has it only just started making a noise . Have you owned the car a longtime?
