Focus issues

Featured Replies

Hi all, I'm in need of some help, I've got a 2006 focus estate 1.8 LX TDCI, on idle the engine judders a bit when it's both warm and cold, when actually driving it, it has hesitation every now and then, usually when your holding it at the same speed for a while, it's been doing it since I first got it a month or 2 ago, I've heard that it could be the injectors causing it but I'm not sure, it's been plugged into a computer and is bringing up no codes at all

Also, the front doors don't close properly, they sit on the latch untill you push/pull them and then they close properly, the passenger side door opens if you go round corners quickly and if a passenger leans on the door it pops open, I've sprayed all the latches with spray greece, but that's not done anything and not sure what to try next other than changing the latches

Thanks in advance

Jay

not sure what the striker plates look like on these, but they are usually adjustable, loosen slightly and move outwards by eg. 1mm

It's unlike to be the injectors (unless you're really unlucky), the 1.8 TDCi isn't known for killing injectors early, unlike the DV6 (1.6 TDCi in the MK2 Focus).  Siemens did supply a crappy bath of injectors to Ford but this was for 2008-2009 builds so if you DO have injector problems you've been very unlucky.

When you say it's been plugged into a computer, do you mean at a garage or just a cheap (generic) £15 ebay/amazon code reader?

I use Forscan on my laptop.

So, I have fixed the issues, at least the engine issues, still not fixed the doors yet lol turns out all the issues I mentioned regarding the engine was all down to the EGR valve, I've blanked it and all the problems have gone 🙂 blanking it did however cause the EML to come on, drilling a small 5mm hole in the blanking plate solved that issue.

Just the doors to sort now and it will all be good 🙂
