Focus Mk.2 Ghia Stereo issues

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

So I recently bought a 2006 Focus Mk.2 Ghia, and to put it simply, the stereo is shagged, its currently the Sony 6 cd changer, and as I've seen with many other people, the gears inside the cd changer have come loose or something. Rather than fixing up an old out-dated stereo, I was looking at aftermarket upgrades, to add in a more modern Android OS head unit for the likes of Spotify and Google Maps. I was hoping for a bit of advice on the subject, I've got the stereo removing keys to take out the old stereo head, I was more mainly hoping for suggestions on suitable replacements. The unit I'm currently looking at is this one. I'm completely new to aftermarket upgrades though, so i've no clue if it'll be suitable, or really of the process of installing it. (From what I've seen it seems as straight forward as plugging out the old unit and plugging in the new unit). I used to be quite into building computers, so I am quite eager to learn more about upgrading with aftermarket parts.

This is a photo of the dashboard of my Focus. Not the best photo as you can't see the cables or connectors I know, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. spacer.png

There is a cheaper more less bulky unit Here

Main issue with that unit is it's Android but only has 1GB of RAM, speaking from personal experience it will run like :shit: and will struggle to run a media player and a sat nav app at the same time.  2GB is the absolute minimum and realistically 4GB RAM makes a huge difference to how responsive the system feels.

Got to admit that`s the one problem with them I have tryed to use sat nav and media and media stops, but I use mine mainly for reverse camera and playing off my usb,

Oh and wife likes the clock on screensaver 🙄,
