2007/57 Front bumper

I caught the bottom of his front bumper on a particularly large speed bump and the centre appears to have dropped a few mm (it's still flush with the wings on the sides but theres a large gap where it meets the bonnet and headlights). I've had a look and tried pushing it every which way to slot it back into place but it doesn't seem to want to budge. I believe it has just popped out and needs pushing back into position as it's not loose but it's deffo dropped. Anyone got any input as I really don't want to spend the coming weekend taking it apart to get it back into position?

Sounds like you have popped the bumper out of the locating holes in the centre so you will have to loosen  / slide the bumper forward to be able to relocate the pegs again. Sadly it is quite an involved job - lights out, under tray off, etc.

Ok cheers. Definetly no way you can just jig it under without taking the entire thing apart?

No you cant get enough movement to pull it forwards and up into its clips also the mounts can get broken so thete may be nothing there to locate it in.

If it's the MK4 then it should only take you an hour.

Make your life a little easier and get the front end on axle stands and take both front wheels off. Both headlights out, 2x bolts and the electrical connector. 2x pins holding the front grill on, pop those out and pull it off as the bottom is clipped into the bumper. Both wheel arch liners need to be removed or bent back behind the hub, they're held on with 3x screws underneath, 1x inside the arch into the bumper and 2x plastic nuts. While you're under the car take out the 3 bolts holding the front undertray on. If you have them, you can now unplug the fog light wiring on the driver's side and the loom for the front parking sensors. The plug for those is the big grey one under the driver's headlight. Then comes the fun bit, 4x bolts holding the bumper to the wings, with the wheel arch liner out you can get much better access but a ratchet spanner is a good idea. BUT be prepared for them to sheer so take it slowly.

Lastly, you have some plastic clamps, 2x on each side under where the headlights sit and they just need pinging up to release the bumper, at this point you can ease the bumper away bearing in mind the passenger side fog light wire is still attached as will be the pipe for headlight washers if fitted. But if your careful you can pull the bumper away just enough to locate the 3x centre pegs and push the bumper back on without having to remove them.

Sound cheers, with the headlights do they have to come off or can you just leave the electrics connected and find somewhere for them to sit?

Fairly certain the looms aren't long enough to get them safely out the way. Once you push the tab down they just need a bit of a wiggle to unplug so not too much of a problem.
