MK2 focus - bonnet cable

Hello, 

Long time reader, first time poster! 

Basically the dreaded focus bonnet has struck again with a twist, in essence the bowden tube have broken off the bonnet lock mechanism on my mk2 focus. this leaves me with just the wire cable to the bonnet lock however, given its sitting just behind the grill i cant get enough of the grip to turn the cable, and thereby turn the lock to open the bonnet. 

its looking like cutting the grill is the only option, does anyone else have any possible ideas how i could open the bonnet without messing up my grille! 

would appreciate any ideas
