Heleas03
Hi folks, my local mechanic discovered a leak on the ac pipe which comes from the air conditioning compressor to condenser. I got the pipe and my question is can I replace it myself? Or does it need some lubricants or special oil or something? Or maybe it's best to leave it on a car mechanic? TomsFocus
You can replace it yourself. But... If there's any gas left in the system it will need to be recovered by an AC tech first if you're in the UK. You will need to lube the new o-rings with PAG oil. You need to make sure you get the pipe in perfectly square to avoid ant chance of leaks. After the repair has been done, you will need to get an AC tech to vacuum test the system and then refill it as long as no leaks are found. It may be best to just have the AC tech fit the pipe as well for the small extra labour charge.
