Eric Bloodaxe
You'll probably get someone coming up with amazing figures, but.... Slightly different car I know, but a friend has had a Mk 4 2.0 Tdci estate (140ps) for 6 years and has rarely seen more than 45, and he does a lot of miles on all types of road. Probably about right my mk4 did about 45 in mixed running and my mk 3 did about 48 again mixed running the mpg tredn does seem downwards emmision down mpg up. Plus it's tuned for 210 BHP (and the associated lump of torque that goes with it) so it's not exactly mapped for maximum efficiency.
iantt
Manual or powershift. Powershift are less economical. And big fat tyres don't help. My 150hp manual econetic can vary from 53-70mpg depending on driving style and roads
tazzman600
I'm on my 4th mk4/4.5. 1st was a 140bhp mk4 diesel which was poor. Around mid 30''s. Near upper 30's after a remap. 2nd a 2.2 tdci manual txs. That was mid to high 30''s. 3rd was the ecoboost txs. Currently on the auto 2.2 tdci txs. High 30''s and a few times low 40's. Be happy with what you've got and getting. That 2.0 litre diesel engine is tuned to almost it's limit so you'll not get quoted figures unless you drive it like Miss Daisy. Eric Bloodaxe
Again, different (and smaller/lighter) car but similar engine. Just been sorting out some paperwork and found the records for the 2.0 Tdci 140 Focus (Mk 2.5) I had. Overall average was 49.8, best tankful 53.6, worst tankful 46.2. Frembrit
My friend had a 210ps Hatch with a powershift auto and he was averaging about 40-44mpg. As others have said, it's tuned for power and not economy, just enjoy it 😀 My mk4.5, 2.2 200ps manual is averaging 40mpg, sometimes a little lower (37mpg) when I'm having even more fun 😉
