Front mounted intercooler

Hey all,

cant seem to find any YouTube vids regarding installing a front mounted intercooler on a mk3 2014 1L ecoboost.

Can it be done? Or does this active grille shutter stop it from being possible.

Thinking about giving a slight remap to give it a better get up and go via bluefin and thought giving a bit cooler air will help the poor car cope.

cheers all

There are no aftermarket intercoolers for the Focus MK3/MK3.5 with 1.0 ECOboost engine. There are some for the Fiesta but these will not fit to a Focus. This is the main reason why you will not find any YouTube video's regarding this subject.

If you want an upgraded intercooler you either have to use a 1.6 ECOboost intercooler and modify the size and location of the hose connections yourself or get yourself a custom made intercooler built by a specialist. An upgraded intercooler usually means that the Active Grille Shutters need to be removed.

Took me a while but remembered that Airtec do a upgraded intercooler for the 1.0 ecoboost Mk3

https://www.airtecmotorsport.com/product/airtec-focus-mk3-1-0-stage-2-intercooler/

As it says on the page... Removal of Ford Grill shutters is required, simply un-bolt and re-fit loom to AIRTEC bracket supplied
